Treatment 2.0

Description and scope

Treatment 2.0Treatment 2.0 is a R&D project that consists of a generic middleware services platform designed for the intelligent handling and management of chronic diseases and includes useful applications for both healthcare professionals (doctors and nurses) and for the patients and carers by facilitating the evolution and monitoring of patients and their diseases, thereby improving their quality of life.

Its objectives are related to the strategic action of the National Programme of Services Technologies for the Information Society to carry out R&D projects and activities within the Technology Area of the Information Society and to oversee the grants awarded by the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation (2008-2011). The objectives are:

  1. To place Spain at the forefront of knowledge in this sector.
  2. To promote a highly competitive business sector.
  3. To promote quality digital public services.

The objective of the initiative is to carry out in-depth research into the implementation and monitoring of the development of all types of treatment related to chronic diseases by means of the following:

  1. Monitoring of treatment adherence
  2. Integration of biometric devices and home technologies
  3. Education and prevention
  4. Intelligent agents
  5. Muscular rehabilitation
  6. Patient profile
  7. Dietary management
  8. Glycaemic control
  9. Document search
  10. Exercise tracking
