New technologies and the emergence of new communication and information tools have been the inspiration for this pilot project, which aims to provide quality healthcare information and to facilitate communication among health professionals and citizens through the use of what are known as Web 2.0 or social media tools.
The Lucano Clinical Management Unit, in the Cordoba healthcare district, has been the promoter of this initiative. The pilot project will offer the possibility of services based on new and future online technologies to citizens from the area, where it is expected to reach 44% of the population. The conclusions obtained from this pilot project will serve to analyse the feasibility and benefits of implementing such services in healthcare centres throughout the Andalusian Public Health System.
This pilot project will be carried out via a platform based on free applications that have been launched by the health centre professionals themselves and is aimed at offering new and complementary services through the use of existing social networks or 2.0 tools such as Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or chat, among others.
