This project has developed a tool to enable the parents or legal guardians of a child admitted to the paediatric ward of Jaen Hospital to visit them and follow their progress over the Internet (PC or mobile via RTSP), The pilot stage of this project has already finalised.
The project consisted of a six-month pilot to test the following features:
The project involved installing 10 IP videocamaras in the paediatric wards of the hospital, and developing software (the application "Visiting your baby"), enabling parents to access images of their baby from both 3G mobiles and also on-line computers. From the nurses' control station the babies can also be monitored in real-time, although the application only transmits images, not audio.
The "Visiting your baby" application also includes security and access control features, such as authentication systems screening call placement.
